At ACSET CAA, we work to address poverty and provide assistance to help establish self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and families. Many families in our community face unstable housing situations every day. It is critical to prevent an incident of homelessness whenever possible; homeless prevention measures are less costly than homeless services. Unfortunately, some of our community members do find themselves homeless. The winter months in Michigan can be brutal for those living on the streets.
Our community has many shelters, serving hundreds of people each year. Every winter they are faced with an urgent need to prevent frostbite, hypothermia and even death among our homeless population.
